Music Tree Methodology Invited to Universiti Malaya, Marking a New Chapter in International Academic Exchange
On 19 June 2026, the Department of Educational Psychology, Faculty of Education, Universiti Malaya, successfully hosted the academic workshop "Exploring High-Quality Music Curriculum in Early Childhood Education".
Invited by the Faculty of Education, Mr. Tommy Tian, Founder of Music Tree Methodology and Director of the Music Tree Methodology (China–ASEAN) Research Centre, delivered the keynote session, engaging academic staff, researchers, and postgraduate students in discussions on high-quality early childhood music curriculum development and innovative educational practices.
In its official invitation, the Faculty of Education at Universiti Malaya highlighted Mr. Tian's extensive expertise and internationally recognized contributions to music education. The invitation noted that his innovative research and practical experience in early childhood music education would provide valuable academic insights for university faculty members, researchers, and pre-service teachers, while contributing meaningfully to the advancement of research and practice in the field.
High-Caliber Participants Gathered to Explore Excellence in Early Childhood Music Education
The workshop attracted 30 participants, primarily from the academic and research community, including:
- 17 PhD candidates (56.7%)
- 9 Master's students (30.0%)
- 3 Researchers (10.0%)
- 1 Bachelor's student (3.3%)
Notably, 96.7% of all participants were postgraduate students or researchers, reflecting the workshop's strong academic focus and demonstrating the growing recognition of Music Tree Methodology among the international research community.
Innovative Educational Philosophy Receives High Praise from International Educators
During the three-hour workshop, Mr. Tian presented a comprehensive overview of high-quality early childhood music curriculum design, children's musical development, the role of music in fostering holistic child development, and the theoretical foundations and practical applications of Music Tree Methodology. Through rich case studies and interactive discussions, participants engaged in meaningful academic dialogue throughout the session.
