About Music Tree
Music Tree is a research-led, technology-enabled whole-child education system that uses music as a core medium for early childhood development.
Our ecosystem includes curriculum and digital teaching resources, educator development programmes, teaching aids, music picture books, family learning products and supporting digital platforms.
Music Tree (ASEAN) Sdn. Bhd. is the authorised regional operating entity responsible for developing Music Tree’s commercial operations, country partnerships, product localisation and partner support across ASEAN.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a commercially driven and mission-aligned leader to build Music Tree’s network of country operating partners across Southeast Asia.
This is not a conventional product sales role or an individual-centre franchise recruitment position.
The successful candidate will identify and develop qualified organisations capable of becoming Music Tree country operating partners—organisations with the capital, market access, management capability, reputation and long-term commitment required to localise, launch and operate Music Tree in their respective markets.
The role covers the full partnership lifecycle: market strategy, partner identification, qualification, commercial negotiation, due diligence, contracting, launch preparation and ongoing partner development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute Music Tree’s market-entry and country-partnership strategy across priority ASEAN markets.
- Prioritise markets based on preschool structure, customer demand, regulation, competitive conditions and commercial viability.
- Identify prospective country operating partners, including education groups, preschool networks, education franchise operators, curriculum distributors, EdTech companies and strategic investors.
- Assess prospective partners based on capital capacity, market access, leadership quality, operational capability, reputation and alignment with Music Tree’s educational philosophy.
- Build country-level business cases covering market positioning, product portfolio, pricing, revenue model, investment requirements and launch roadmap.
- Lead commercial discussions involving regional licences, country operating rights, product distribution, digital platforms, training and performance obligations.
- Coordinate partner due diligence and contracting with Music Tree’s management, legal, finance, academic, product and technology teams.
- Move qualified partners from initial engagement through commercial commitment, payment, pilot implementation and market launch.
- Support country partners in developing local teams, preschool channels, educator-training capacity, customer-service systems and market-development plans.
- Maintain a disciplined regional pipeline, CRM records, forecasts, market intelligence and partnership performance reports.
- Protect Music Tree’s intellectual property, educational standards, brand integrity and long-term customer interests throughout the partnership lifecycle.
- Represent Music Tree (ASEAN) at relevant education, preschool, franchise and business events across the region.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate results—not only relationships.
Essential experience:
- At least 8 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, franchising, licensing, market expansion or channel development.
- At least 3 years of regional or multi-country experience in Southeast Asia.
- Relevant experience in early childhood education, K–12 education, education franchising, curriculum publishing, EdTech, teacher development or education solutions.
- A track record of developing country distributors, master franchises, licensing arrangements, strategic channel partnerships or joint-market initiatives.
- Experience taking partnerships beyond signing and into payment, implementation and commercial operation.
- Strong commercial judgement, including business modelling, partner economics, negotiation and revenue forecasting.
- Ability to work across educational content, digital products, physical products, training and service-delivery models.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Willingness to travel regularly across ASEAN.
Preferred experience:
- Existing relationships with education groups, preschool operators, franchise organisations, investors or education distributors in Southeast Asia.
- Experience entering Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines or other priority ASEAN markets.
- Proficiency in Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia or another Southeast Asian language.
- Experience working in an entrepreneurial, founder-led or early-stage regional organisation.
- Familiarity with intellectual-property licensing, localisation, education compliance and partner-governance frameworks.
What Success Looks Like
During the first 12 months, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Establish clear market-entry and partner-development plans for priority ASEAN countries.
- Build a credible pipeline of qualified country operating partners.
- Advance selected partners through formal qualification and due diligence.
- Secure country partnerships with meaningful commercial commitments.
- Support at least one priority market through pilot preparation or commercial launch.
The Right Person
You are likely to succeed in this role if you are:
- A partnership builder rather than a transactional salesperson.
- Comfortable speaking with founders, investors, education-group owners and senior executives.
- Able to balance commercial ambition with educational integrity.
- Structured enough to manage long and complex partnership cycles.
- Prepared to challenge unsuitable opportunities instead of pursuing agreements at any cost.
- Motivated by the opportunity to build a new regional education platform from the ground up.
Why Join Music Tree
- Help shape Music Tree’s ASEAN expansion strategy from an early stage.
- Build long-term partnerships that can influence early childhood education across the region.
- Work with a distinctive education system integrating music, child development, educator development and family participation.
- Take ownership of a senior regional role with direct access to the company’s founder and leadership team.
- Receive a competitive senior-level compensation package with performance incentives linked to paid partnerships, successful launches and sustainable market development.
How to Apply
Please apply through LinkedIn with your CV and a brief note addressing the following:
- Which ASEAN markets have you personally developed?
- What country-level, master-franchise, licensing or distribution partnerships have you completed?
- What was your direct role in moving those partnerships from initial contact to commercial launch?
All applications and preliminary discussions will be treated confidentially.
